What is TAA?

The Trade Agreements Act (TAA) is a U.S. federal law that promotes fair international trade by requiring that the U.S. government only purchase products from countries with which it has established trade agreements or that are designated compliant under the act.

What are TAA compliant products?

A product is considered TAA compliant if it is either manufactured in the U.S. or a TAA-designated country or if it has been substantially transformed in such a country into a new and distinct product. Designated countries include those that are part of the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement (WTO GPA) or have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in place with the U.S.

Examples of countries where TAA compliant products are produced include:

• United Kingdom

TAA compliant products are available in the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule. The GSA Schedule is a long-term, governmentwide contract that provides federal, state, and local government agencies with access to an array of products and services at pre-negotiated prices. By streamlining the procurement process, the GSA Schedule simplifies how the government purchases while ensuring compliance with federal regulations such as the TAA.
